Alisys becomes Boston Dynamics' partner in Europe and first distributor for Spain and Portugal

Boston Dynamics'

Spot, Boston Dynamics' first commercial robot, is the most advanced robot on the market and is designed for scanning, inspection and remote operation.

Alisys has become Boston Dynamics' partner in Europe for Spain and Portugal. Research centers and industrial companies have begun to deploy this robot, which uses technology that is the result of more than 15 years of research and development by the North American company. Alisys will allow to extend Spot's deployments in Spain and Portugal.

Spot is the most advanced quadruped robot in the world and the first to be launched by Boston Dynamics. Eduardo Gómez, CEO of Alisys, highlights "the disruption of a robot that will allow inspection and detection processes to be rethought from a much safer perspective for people" and points out that Alisys is now working to develop real use cases in mainly industrial environments.

Inspired by the movement of animals, Spot walks smoothly through difficult, unfamiliar or inaccessible terrain. Unlike wheeled robots, this robot is capable of climbing and descending stairs, crossing rough terrain or even overcoming stumbling and regaining its balance.

Thanks to sensors, cameras 360° and its advanced mapping system, navigates autonomously, reaching a maximum speed of 1.6 meters per second, carries loads of up to 14 kilograms and supports extreme temperatures from -4 °F to 113 °F (-20 °C to 45 °C). It is dust and water resistant with an IP54 rating.

For Jorgina Diaz, head of Alisys' robotics division, "Boston Dynamics has developed one of the most sophisticated technologies to date; now we have the responsibility to develop the software that will allow us to take it to the highest level".

Among the possible uses of the robot are the automation of detection, inspection and data capture in unstructured industrial areas such as factories, warehouses or power generation facilities, sometimes in collaboration with other robots or people. On the other hand, it provides the necessary hardware and software to research centers and universities to innovate in navigation technologies, mapping, artificial vision systems or human-machine collaboration.

By partnering with Boston Dynamics and incorporating Spot into its robot fleet, Alisys is expanding its solutions and reaffirming the organization's commitment to automation technologies.
